In particular, anyone who has any of these symptoms may need to be tested for undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea:
Home sleep testing may be a good option for older patients with chronic conditions who are home-bound and require special care.
We do not recommend an in-home sleep test to patients with the following medical conditions: those with significant cardiorespiratory disease, potential respiratory muscle weakness due to neuromuscular condition, awake hypoventilation or suspicion of sleep-related hypoventilation, chronic opioid medication use, or a history of stroke or severe insomnia.

Sleep Care online uses the latest in cutting-edge technology with a disposable home sleep apnea test device called the NightOwl®—the world’s smallest, most convenient home sleep apnea test. The device consists of a sensor that is connected to a smartphone app (NightOwl Companion–available for iOS or Android) and integrated cloud-based analysis software for analysis.
The NightOwl sensor is attached to the fingertip via a single-use biocompatible adhesive tape. The sensor measures photoplethysmography (PPG) signals and determines several bio-metrics including oxygen saturation (SpO2), pulse rate, and peripheral arterial tonometry (PAT). This data is used to determine the patient’s AHI. An accelerometer is incorporated into the device to detect sleep time. Using this data, the NightOwl detects sleep and sleep-disordered breathing patterns. All collected data is transmitted via the cloud and study results are available the following morning.
Each device is disposable and capable of being used for multiple nights as needed for accuracy or if follow-up testing is medically necessary. This disposable feature greatly reduces the possibility of contamination, particularly in the time of COVID.
NightOwl is FDA-cleared and has been clinically validated in multiple trials.
Sleep Care online’s Complete Care service is for people ages 18 and older experiencing sleep difficulties and at risk of moderate to severe sleep apnea. Risk factors include loud snoring, daytime sleepiness, obesity, and breathing cessation during sleep.
Yes, at-home sleep apnea tests are reliable and approved by the FDA for the diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
After wearing the device overnight, the data will be transmitted via the cloud and your results will be ready for review in less than 48 hours. Our healthcare practitioners will interpret the sleep study and provide a prescription if warranted. You have the option to schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss study results (additional fee applies).
The disposable NightOwl home sleep apnea test is the world’s smallest sleep testing device and is so easy to use! Simply remove the sensor and use the included adhesive to tape it to your finger. Turn on the app before you go to bed and that’s all!

Yes, a prescription is required for a home sleep apnea test (HSAT) from a doctor who has a license in the state in which you reside. During your initial 10-minute telehealth appointment, our healthcare provider will discuss symptoms and determine if you are a candidate for a sleep study. When they sign off on your sleep study, we will mail you the NightOwl sleep testing device and you can begin your sleep test.
Yes! Through our CPAP renewal prescription program, a current PAP user can easily renew their prescription. Simply schedule a 10-minute telehealth consult with a sleep expert (may be a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner) to discuss your current PAP equipment, settings, and experience. An updated PAP prescription will be provided or a recommendation to take a home sleep apnea test, if required.
Once your sleep study is complete, a sleep expert will write a prescription for the recommended treatment. Our Sleep Care online team will send over the prescription to you once your results are available. We make it easy to get started on the therapy that you need.
Fifteen minutes before your appointment, you will receive a text message with a link to a Zoom meeting. At the time of your appointment, click the link and you will be in a waiting room. Once the healthcare practitioner is available, you will be accepted into the virtual exam room. Your appointment will cover symptoms, what to expect with testing, what the results could mean, and the next steps after a diagnosis.
If you need to reschedule your telehealth visit, please let us know 24 hours before your appointment time. Any late cancellations or no-shows will be subject to a fee before scheduling a new appointment.

Jayson Friesen –
I honestly was kind of skeptical at first because I thought there would be no way they would be able to test accurately, but after doing some independent research. I did see the device they use NightOwl by Ectosense, and all the peer reviewed research papers did show it being well within acceptable levels. I received the device, and the setup was super simple. It just tapes to the tip of your finger. After three nights of use, I waited for my appointment, and I was given all the information online about what it recorded, and then I was given a prescription and some recommendations for a CPAP. Overall, it is WELL worth the $300 out of pocket. The fact that going to a actual sleep lab is so much more expensive even with insurance makes this well worth. If you do any type of snoring, I would recommend this over and over again. (Reviewed on Google)
